Advance Design & Systems Buyer Map

David Crawford | Advance Design & Systems | October 2026

As of 16 Oct 2026

Advance Design & Systems designs, builds and installs special machines, custom automation, precision fixtures and build-to-print equipment, with its own machine shop, controls engineering and assembly under one roof in Pine City, Minnesota.

This page maps the kinds of manufacturers and labs that buy that work, roughly how many of each there are, and who usually signs off on a custom machine or fixture project inside them.

Where your buyers sit

Each group matches work your own site describes: medical roots, assembly and test automation, web handling and packaging, winding systems, and technicians in customer labs and R&D facilities. Counts are United States firms, banded.

Who signs off at each group

A custom machine or fixture is usually raised by engineering, justified by operations and released by purchasing. The titles below are the ones that usually own each step.

Build to print buyers

Your site offers to build fixtures and machines from a customer's own designs, from prototypes up to complete turnkey lines, inside a secure bay under non-disclosure agreements.

That buyer is usually an engineering team that has the design but not the shop. The person who signs is most often the engineering manager who owns the design, with purchasing releasing the order once the quote matches the prints.

Contract production and machining buyers

Your site also offers to run a customer's manufacturing production at your facility, and to machine prototypes, single parts or multiple quantities from your own tool room and machine shop.

Here the decision usually sits with a supply chain or purchasing manager, with the operations lead agreeing that moving the work out protects the schedule.

Ten people to start with

Where to start

Lead with the medical roots

Your site says the company began in contract engineering for the medical arena. Device and instrument makers buy on trust in quality and confidentiality, so a short note to manufacturing engineering leaders that names the secure assembly bay and the work done side by side in customer labs speaks to how they already choose suppliers.

One engineer from quote to install

Your applications engineers are also the project managers, and stay the single point of contact from sales to installation. For a plant manager who has lived through a handoff gone wrong, that is the point to put first, ahead of the equipment list.

Ask for the prints

Your quote route already asks buyers to attach prints and models. An opening line to build to print and R&D engineering teams that simply invites a set of prints for a quote matches the way that work is bought.

Built from public federal registries and the company's own website, counts banded deliberately.
